Southern Spain
Super Sojourn
March 17-March 27, 2009
$3799 • Alumni 3699 • Single Supplement $795
I can't take credit for naming this tour; that goes to Jesse Abboud, frequent tour alumnus, who is a devout aficionado of Spanish wines. He is the
inspiration for this tour- and he is right: Southern Spain never gets mentioned in the same category as its more famous northern brothers- Rioja, Ribera,
Priorat, et al But this is changing dramatically and wine critics from David Rosengarten to Robert Parker are giving this region its long overdue
recognition.
Our tour starts in Valencia on March 17 during the height of the Fallas festival, an annual insane fiesta which culminates on March 19 when giant
papiermâché and wood statues are set on fire during a gigantic fireworks display.
We'll visit the avant-garde wine regions of Jumilla and Yecla, then on to Alicante and Utiel-Requena. We then continue to Granada to visit the Alhambra and
our final stop, Sevilla, our base to explore the famous Sherry region. The tour ends March 27, when regrettably we say hasta la vista.
If you love Spain and things Spanish, you'll love this tour. If you're new to Spain, you'll soon become an aficionado. This is a once-in-a-lifetime tour and
we hope that you can join us.
