Tango & Wine: The Magic of Argentina
What's paradise for a wine lover? Visiting a wine region during the height of the harvest. And that's when we'll be in Mendoza, the epicenter of the Argentine wine scene. In less than 10 years, Argentina has come literally from nowhere on the wine radar screen to becoming one of the foremost producers of quality wines at a reasonable cost. World-class winemakers such as Paul Hobbs have flocked to Argentina and have changed a moribond wine industry that despite a long tradition started mostly by Italian immigrants became complacent and favored production of plonk wine. With the likes of Hobbs, Baron Rothschild, Moet and Chandon and many others, Argentina now is at the forefront of world class wines. The featured star is the Malbec grape, used elsewhere only as a blending grape. But Argentina has had amazing success with other varieties and we'll have the privilege of visiting some of Mendoza's top producers. Typical of Vin's tours will be a healthy blend of cultural and culinary experiences. A visit to Argentina without experiencing the tango and the gaucho would be like going to Rome and not seeing the Coliseum. And when we leave on April 1, you'll also bring home a piece of Argentina as a "moveable feast." Tour highlights: Tour includes:
