WINE TOURS PIEDMONT, ITALY |
 |
|
| Piedmont, in the far north-west corner of Italy, produces two of Italy's finest red wines: Barolo and Barbaresco, both
made from the Nebbiolo grape. Barolo is aged for 4 to 7 years and is produced in the old style in large wood barrels, or the more modern style in small
barriques. The growing areas for these wines are in the Monferrato Hills near the towns of Barolo, Castiglione, Monforte d'Alba, Verduno and Diana d'Alba
for Barolo and Neive and Barbaresco for Barbaresco.
